Midnight Movie is another movie I recently watched, so I decided to write a review on this movie as well. This movie is such a cliché. However, I've already stated that my intentions are not to trash or praise a movie. With that being said, I explain why I say this movie is a cliché.
This movie is your average Teen Scream flick. It is the kind of movie that high school lovers go to see just so young men can let they're high school sweethearts lean on their shoulders and use them as a "shield". On the flip side, this movie also has a twist to it.
So....we're in a movie theatre, which is where this film will take place. Bridget, the manager of the theatre, gets a surprise visit from her boyfriend, Josh, who wants to spend the evening with her by sneaking into a horror movie during her work shift. After encouraging her, they head into the theatre, where she is surprised again by her friends, who all join them for the movie.
The movie showing in the theatre is an old black-and-white horror film. Here's where the twist comes in, the killer in the movie finds a way to teleport himself into the present day and wreck havoc in the theatre.
Kind of like in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise; when you die in dreams, you die for real.......
Well.....when you die in this movie, guess what??? You die for real.
What makes this movie a pretty decent film is the gore it has. It's not over-the-top gore, but enough to make you cringe here-and-there. I definitely think the character's stories should have been elaborated on a bit. Especially that of Bridget, the main character. You can sense some secrets or skeletons in her life that she keeps secret.
There's not really much else to this movie. It's pretty straightforward and to the point. Doesn't waste any time there. All-in-all, it's a decent film that I wouldn't overlook.
So, when you have the chance check it out on Netflix.
Peace!
