Okay...this film had me....and then it lost me. Part of the reason is that the whole film is in German language, so, me being fluent English, I had to concentrate on the subtitles to understand what was being said. When you have to concentrate on subtitles, it takes away from the focus of film. Next to that, what was going on and the reason were blinding me.

The whole time I'm watching it I'm staring  at the screen dumbfoubdedly trying to figure out what the heck was going on. I knew what was going on, but the film managed to lose me before it even got started. And all throughout the film, it kept losing me.

A family (mother, husband and son), Anna, Georg and Gerog Jr., are vacationing in a cabin. One knock on the door by two strange young men, Peter and Paul....looking for "eggs" by the way...and their vacation turns into a nightmare as the young men subject them to torture by making them play sadistic games with one another.

This film will creep you out psychologically. It makes you think about the cruel intentions of some people and what they would do to innocent people at the expense of their own satisfaction.

Maybe back in it's time this film was considered disturbing. For being a 90's film, it definitely shows some age to it. When you take this film and compare it to the films of today, "Funny Games" is a bit looney. The bad guys on here are quite the amateurs in the game of trespass, hostage, and torture. The victims, the family, are not so bright even from the beginning. This film goes downhill before the action even begins.

The idea and plot of this film is great. The execution is not so great. In any case, it's worth the watch. Check it out on Netflix.

Peace.
